The Plan Ahead

Posted by: A. Null Player  /  Category: Daily Updates

So far this venture has not gone as we all hoped. I have used $11,448 of the $30,000 Bankroll so far (i.e., 38% spent), with only one tiny cash!

I plan to make a couple of tries to get into the main event by playing some $540 and $1080 mega satellites, and I plan on playing the Golden Nugget $1080 No Limit Finale on July 5, and either Binion's or Caesars No Limit Finale on July 7, and possibly the Venetian super satellite on July 12 to try to get into their $5000 No Limit Finale.

Even if I play all of these and have no cashes, I will only spend about $5000 to $6000 more, which will raise the total to just a little more than 50% of the bankroll. Thus, the worst case scenario should leave about 45% to 50% of the sponsors money unused and returned to the sponsors.

It ain't over yet!

$1500 WSOP Event 47 Seven Card Stud High Low Split 8 or better

Posted by: A. Null Player  /  Category: Daily Updates

Started at 5 pm at 50 - 100 level with 3000. I was at same table for 4 hour-long levels. No one was eliminated from my table in all that time and when they broke our table no one had more than 4200 and no one had less than 2400. I had 3100.

Unfortunately, I was moved to a table that had 4 big stacks over 10000 so I needed to mix it up and try to get some chips before the levels got so high it became a crap shoot. I lost a few small pots reducing my stack to 1400.

At the 5th level 200 - 400 and 50 ante I had to open with 8 7 4 with the 8 7 suited diamonds in the hole. A player with a jack completed and two other called, as did I. I caught the ace of diamonds and called again. Then I caught a nine of diamonds, there were no lows on the board, I called again. Then I caught a 10 and called a bet and raise and was al in. So, going into the river I was all in with a low draw and a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. I missed everything and was out.

If I made the straight or flush I would have scooped and kings up won. No one made a low so if I made the low I would have chopped.

RIO 7 pm nightly $340 no limit tournament

Posted by: A. Null Player  /  Category: Daily Updates

Stopped at B of A to get some cash for upcoming tournaments but they refused to let me withdraw as my driver's license had, unbeknownst to me, expired on my birthday! Went to RIO about 5 pm and played 2 - 5 nl for an hour and won $5. Decided to try the 7 pm nightly $340 no limit tournament.

I came in 120 out of 298 entrants. Last hand blinds were 300 / 600 with 50 ante, so 1350 in the pot. I had ace jack in middle position and it was folded to me. I went all in for exactly 3000. Button had a lot of chips and he called me with ace 10 suited. I dominated his hand and if I could win I would have 7350, an above average stack. However, he caught a 10 right on the flop, I failed to improve and was out.

Capo’s

Dinner at Capo's with Russ and Terry and Louis. Great place with speakeasy atmosphere and live Sinatra / Dean Martin crooner.

Later went to RIO. Played 2 - 5 nl and won $90. Then sat in the 10 - 20 mixed and lost $280, mostly in the 2-7 triple draw.

WSOP Event 42 Senior NL Holdem

Posted by: A. Null Player  /  Category: Daily Updates

Doubled the 3000 starting stack by the first break. At the 100 - 200 with 25 ante, I had a series of small beats that reduced my stack to 2050. I picked up pocket kings under the gun and went all in. Everyone folded to the sb who called for his last 1900 with ace 5! Of course, he caught the ace on the flop and I was down to posting my last 50 in the bb. Had 3 4 and flopped a 3, but someone rivered a pair of 10's and I was out.

Russ refused to back Terry with me for this tourney despite the fact Terry made us money in the Binion's HORSE. So, I gave him $600 for a 50% share. Terry lasted an hour longer than me. When I went out there were about 700 of the 2218 starters out. When Terry went out about 1400 had been eliminated. The small starting chips (3000) meant a quick out for lots of players.

Went to Wynn and played 2 - 5 nl. Very tight game. I dropped $700 but was able to win back $500. Went home for nap, then went to RIO and played 2 - 5 nl and lost $30.
